Freezer is leaking water on the floor.
Kenmore freezer leaking water onto floor.
I have a kenmore coldspot model 106 74259400 upright refrigerator freezer with an automatic ice maker and water dispenser.
Applicable to various makes such as hotpoint hoover samsun.
It seems the freezer is working.
Over the last several weeks something has been leaking water onto my floor.
The unit is not leaking inside that i can see except for a tiny bit from the water dispenser into the egg tray but periodically several times per week there is water on the floor right where the door opens at the front corner.
The freezer is in the garage and the floor is soaking wet.
First try cleaning the seal around the inside of the freezer door using warm water soap and a washcloth.
Use a towel to dry the seal and the surrounding areas and close the freezer.
Detailed solution and explanation.
How to stop you freezer or fridge freezer from leaking water.
When this pan becomes full it will leak water onto the floor.
This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts.
If the defrost drain is frozen the water will overflow the drain trough and drip down to the bottom of the compartment.
If the defrost drain is frozen thaw the ice.
When i felt and then looked i could see it is coming from a narrow tube that connects with a foam piece about 2 inches long.
The leak is dripping from the bottom.
The foam is squishy with water and it drips onto my wood floor.
Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle.
I hear noise coming from the freezer which could be the fan motor or compressor.
This water can eventually leak onto the floor.
Unplug the sears kenmore refrigerator from the wall outlet.
The food in my freezer is still frozen.
