Newer models have an advanced digital display with indicators to alert you that the machine is warmed up and ready to brew.

Maybe it was the quick cycling of the plug that reset it maybe it was pressing the power button while cyclin. You see the small and medium cups button. Use the back button to return to the settings menu. Now release these two buttons at the same time.
